The Advanced Research School in Law and Jurisprudence is a doctoral school of the University of Vienna, which provides a forum to excellent doctoral students for training, networking and interdisciplinary exchange. The Ars Iuris Vienna aims at supporting the doctoral students in completing their doctoral studies successfully and enhancing the quality and visibility of the research of young scholars. An important aspect is the funding of Ars Iuris Vienna uni:doc positions, which support excellent (especially interdisciplinary) dissertation projects. One Ars Iuris Vienna uni:doc position for doctoral students will be filled in Spring 2023. The employment offers the opportunity to write a doctoral thesis under the supervision of professors of the University of Vienna Law School. Depending on the topic of the proposed thesis holders of uni:doc positions will be assigned to an institute of the Faculty of Law. With the employment as an uni:doc Fellow they automatically become a Fellow of the Ars Iuris Vienna. The tender is for 3 years, with the employment initially limited to 1.5 years and automatically extended to a total of 3 years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months.

Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 monts; Participation in research, teaching and administration; Regular and active participation in activities and events organized by Ars Iuris Vienna; Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
Profile:
Admitted to or fulfils all requirements for the admission to the doctoral programme in Law or the PhD programme Interdisciplinary Legal Studies, this presupposes not only a specific research proposal but also the consent of (at least) one supervisor who is an active member of the Viennese law faculty; Didactic competence is desired; High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing; Excellent command of written and spoken English and German, further foreign language skills are desired; Ability to work in a team.
