We are looking for a data-savvy insurance controller to support us with our local insurance controlling, planning, monitoring and product activities for the German market. You will help us develop a state-of-the-art controlling landscape in a fun, techie, dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role can be either in Berlin or remotely in Germany, France, Austria, Spain and Italy as long as you are open to visit the German office twice per month.

In this role you will:
  • Be responsible for controlling the German insurance book:
  • Review and analyse the accounts, investigate variances to budget
  • Create annual financial insurance budgets for all legal entities in Germany
  • Monitor the performance of the book, identify key drivers, risks and opportunities
  • Be in charge of local external reporting on the German insurance portfolio (e.g. GDV reporting)
  • Support with local insurance product activities:
  • Help build an early-warning system for detecting adverse trends
  • Assist in proposing concrete measures to management to push sales and financial performance
  • Translating group strategy into concrete, workable product solutions for the Country
  • Be at the intersection of many different teams and collaborate with
  • Country management, which will be your main stakeholder
  • Local operational and sales teams to get an in-depth understanding of the market
  • The Accounting teams to establish and maintain appropriate accounting for chargebacks and P&L views
  • The Group Controlling and FP&A teams for the budgeting and planning activities
  • The Data team to ensure data quality and availability
  • Work in an entrepreneurial hyper growth environment
  • Be exposed to the launch of new products
  • Be able to explore and use the data with a great amount of freedom in our SQL database, using Python, Power BI
  • Establish new and redesign existing controlling processes
  • Work in the German Finance team and be mentored by the local insurance product and controlling lead
What you bring:
  • Experience working in a finance team in insurance with a good grasp of controlling activities
  • Academic background in a quantitative field, such as finance, mathematics, engineering, business administration
  • A data-driven way of thinking paired with the necessary programming skills to work with data, such as SQL and Python
  • Willingness to get a deep understanding of the German insurance book by approaching various stakeholders and asking questions
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to enjoy working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Ideally an understanding of the German P&C market
  • Maybe some experience with BI tools such as Power BI
  • Proficiency in English and German. Both are must-haves since you will work closely with the Group and the local teams
