Head of Sales

The Opportunity:

The jobholder is responsible for leading the sales force within Austria. You ensure that the sales force understood the current marketing and sales strategy and take appropriate steps to meet their short and long term objectives of the business; sales growth, market acceptance and market penetration under consideration of cost structure and commercial profit.

Responsible to ensure that insights from the field are in cooperated into the marketing strategy, part of the cross-functional team to implement new tactics. Participates in setting strategies for new product launch as active member of the cross-functional brand team.

Oversees the structure and design of the field force activities to meet revenue and territory requirements. May oversee the sales operations and support function, but has no or minimal direct marketing functional responsibilities.

Responsible to manage the tenders in alignment with the company strategy and in tight cooperation with the General Manager.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Establish an annual sales and volume plan for the hospital and outpatient area of responsibility. Plan staff and financial resources in accordance with the superior. Ensure tracking of approved plans/budgets and take appropriate measurements in case of deviation
  • To monitor the market dynamics of the Region, including the competition and the healthcare environment with the aim of anticipating challenges and of ensuring that our strategy and tactics meet the needs of the patient and reflect customers’ insights. To maintain a clear understanding of national/territory healthcare policies and factors that may affect access to the market, and local account and customers’ need.
  • Define sales strategies and forecast sales volumes per channel/product/customers. Monthly review of the sales forecast for S&OP and sales incentive purpose. Comply with the deadlines for accurate sales forecast.

  • To engage, motivate, develop and coach individuals and teams to realize their maximum performance and potential. To leverage the team’s knowledge, (both functional and cross-functional) skill-set and competencies to deliver the right solution to their own particular regional environment. To take full responsibility for conducting individual performance appraisals and for coaching in the field.
  • Active member of the Austrian Leadership Team, ensure implementation of the Global/European strategy within the FF
  • To ensure compliance in all interactions throughout the organization and to maintain regular liaison with the Regional and Local compliance functions to see that all processes and activities comply with internal and external policies (Pharmig Code, EFPIA, global guidelines)
  • To help shape the multichannel implementation and the implementation in the CRM system, taking defined KPIs into account; co-develop MultiChannelCycle plans and ensure implementation by the sales force; co-ordinate CRM-toll processes together with business operations to ensure data quality

Qualification Profile:

  • University Degree in Natural science or economics, Vet Medicine, Degree in Economics
  • Postgraduate training in sales, marketing etc
  • Sales and/or Marketing in the pharmaceutical industry (3-5 years)
  • Demonstrable ability to lead and manage teams;
  • Project management; negotiation skills
  • Fluency in German and English
  • Teamwork and Leadership
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Creative thinker, team player as well as team leader, ability to work in teams on national level as well as within the cluster
  • High ethical standards as well as personal credibility
  • Be able to work under pressure,
  • Not afraid of making decisions
  • Sets challenging goals and continuously rises the bar
  • Develops sound strategy and engages the organization
  • Willingness to travel national and international
  • Regular participation at congresses

Reporting Relationships:

This position reports to: General Manager Austria

Roles that report into this position: 5 - 7 Sales Representatives
